Embrace the vibrant spirit of creativity and empowerment at the NYC Graffiti Women’s Festival!

The NYC Graffiti Women’s Festival is a powerful celebration of the invaluable contributions women have made to graffiti, an art form that has historically marginalized their voices. As the first element of Hip Hop, graffiti has been shaped by women since its inception, yet their stories remain largely untold. Beginning in 2015 with the 'Graffiti Herstory' project—a gathering of women artists painting together in the Bronx—this movement has blossomed into a vibrant festival that champions community, creativity, and hip hop culture. Our inaugural NYC Graffiti Women's Festival in 2023 marked a significant milestone in the celebration of 50 years of Hip Hop.

This year the festival is partnering with The Point CDC in Hunts Point, Bronx, NY. Highlighting women graffiti artists with a weekend of live painting, workshops, a gallery exhibit, and short films/videos that will be focused on supporting awareness and actions around environmental justice issues that are affecting the community of Hunts Point, and the world. It is an honor for the festival to be part of The Point’s legacy and advocacy for environmental justice.

We look forward to building this festival into a sustainable event that grows each year and creates an economic platform for the community of graffiti women to thrive!

Many of these graffiti artists are mothers, often single, and living below the poverty line. Due to their status as women and graffiti artists, they frequently face the risk of domestic and sexual violence, intimidation, and bullying. Most of these women are reluctant to share their experiences; they would rather stop painting than speak out about these issues.
